Why did you join the Alumni Board of Directors?

I was so excited to join the Alumni Board of Directors because of the great work that the board is doing. Community is a really important part of life and through my experiences with SNHU, the alumni community is very special. As a student and now alumni, I had many opportunities to work on my own personal and professional growth and participate in meaningful events and work. I cannot wait to connect with alumni and help build community as well as continue to volunteer during Global Days of Service. I have gained so much as a student and am excited to give back in this way. Yay Penmen!

What's your favorite SNHU experience as an alumnus?

I would have to say Homecoming Weekend as a whole. While attending SNHU I developed an incredible circle of friends. We still try and get together as a group as much as we can. Homecoming Weekend brings us back to our roots and our old stomping grounds. We love getting back to campus to see how things have grown and maybe catch up with people we may not normally see. It is something that I look forward to every year.

Why is it important  to give back as an alumna?

I think alumni are an essential part of SNHU's community. By giving back, I hope to strengthen the relationships connecting students, alumni, faculty and the community in which we all live. I think these bonds can be valuable for networking and to create a sense of belonging. Personally, I would like to express my gratitude to SNHU by paying it forward and ensuring others benefit from their SNHU experience the same way I did. I would like to share my work experiences to support students and alumni in any way I can, meeting people where they are and helping them get to where they want to be.

Why did you join the Alumni Board of Directors?

I joined the Alumni Board of Directors because of my recent visits back to campus.  While there I was invigorated by the energy, excitement, and enthusiasm I witnessed from the students, faculty, and staff.  I have considered SNHU my home since my very first visit as a high school senior looking at colleges, and I still feel that way now.  As I reflect on my experiences, it was SNHU that helped build my skills and capabilities as a leader and helped shape the person I am today.  I hope to continue the SNHU tradition of giving back as a member of the Alumni Board of Directors.

Current Organization & Position: BLE Training, Founder & Chief Learning Officer

Why did you join the Alumni Board of Directors?

I have chosen to join the Alumni Board of Directors because I want to dedicate my time and energy to institutions that have positively impacted my life. It's similar to Warren Buffett's advice about investing in companies whose products you understand and use. SNHU has played a significant role in my personal and professional development, providing valuable education and learning opportunities. Much like Buffett's philosophy suggests that having firsthand experience with a company's products gives investors unique insights, my experience on the board will allow me to give back and deepen my understanding of the university's values and potential. By serving on the Alumni Board, I am not just giving back but investing in an institution I believe in. This role enables me to leverage my unique perspective as a former student to help SNHU grow and better serve current and future students, much like an informed investor might help guide a company they believe in.

What's your favorite SNHU memory from your time as a student?

My favorite memory from my time as a student was when Sherri P., my academic advisor, called me with a concern. She asked if she had done something wrong and, if so, she apologized sincerely. She went on to explain that her intention was to provide support and help me succeed. This heart-to-heart conversation touched me deeply. It taught me the importance of effective communication and, more importantly, the significance of making a positive impact. I am forever grateful to Sherri.

What's your favorite SNHU memory from your time as a student?

I had an advisor at SNHU who played an instrumental role in helping me navigate some of the more challenging aspects of balancing work, school, and caring for my young children at home. Throughout the ups and downs, my advisor consistently supported me, often spending over an hour or two on the phone, discussing not only academic matters, but also life in general. These conversations reinforced the importance of continuing my educational journey and transformed my perspective on the value of education. The staff at SNHU were true game changers, offering a level of support I had not encountered in traditional undergraduate or graduate programs.
