What Went Down: On April 2, 2017, over 60 volunteers from San Diego came together with the San Diego Audubon Society to remove invasive plants from Stony Point. This area is a popular nesting location for the Endangered California Least Tern. Maintaining this location protects native sand dune plants and restores the nesting habitat. 

COCE student and site leader Holly Robinson was joined by two other SNHU community members for this effort. The Tern will be arriving in the next few weeks. She said, "It's important to clear the invasive weeds from the sand dunes so they can nest and camoflage in the sand to be safe from predators." Their project even made their local news.
