I chose SNHU because everyone was so nice to me and helpful in giving me information about what I'm able to experience at school.
My hope was that college would help me get on a better career path following graduation. My experience helped me grow more than I thought I could.
Even before I chose SNHU, I felt welcome at all the different campus events for potential students. Once I was accepted, there were so many events that solidified my opinion that this was the right choice. What makes SNHU so personal is that the professors know your name and you are not just a number to them. They take interest in helping you get the most of learning, both in and out of the classroom.
I have always liked helping people and felt that the hospitality field might be the right fit. During some of my vacations, I have met some wonderful people that made my vacations special. I want to be that person that can make people feel welcomed.
My dream job is to be a general manager at a hotel.
Colleen from Disability Services has been the biggest influence on my SNHU experience. She has helped me when I was struggling and made sure I had the tools needed to be successful.
I am part of the Hospitality Student Association and I have had work study jobs on campus at the gym and off campus at the Manchester Animal Shelter. I have enjoyed participating in the many events on campus and getting my Penmen Pride points. I took part in Dorm Wars and even won Battleship with my team members.
The most challenging part has been finding time for all the work and activities available. Between classes, studying, and other events, I wish there was more time during the day.
Making the President’s List last semester. It showed me that I can achieve anything, even after struggling with my workload.
The Edward S. Wolak Scholarship has been extremely helpful as without it, it would have been even harder to stay at SNHU today.
Try as many things as possible. Get involved when you can and have fun.
This past summer I had an internship at the AC Hotel by Marriot, which is run by the Colwen Hotel Group. They have invited me back next summer and after I graduate. I have met a few other SNHU alumni that also work for this organization.
I would like to come back to Homecoming and be able to help other hospitality students get internships.
