Class of: 2018
Program: Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Criminology
I began college at a large state school down south, and hated how far away it was from home and how large of a school it was. I transferred to SNHU because it was close to home and a much smaller school.
I never realized how many other resources and connections would come from going to college. I have learned a lot, but the connections I have made and the resources I have access to through SNHU were unexpected and they have helped me out a ton!
I know the accounting professors that I have, and they know me. I enjoy being part of smaller classes, and being able to get to know my peers and professors.
I took an accounting class in high school, and really enjoyed it. I have continued to enjoy it even more the more I learn!
I hope to one day be a partner at a public accounting firm, or create my own firm.
My Judicial Administration instructor has been my biggest influence by opening my eyes to new possibilities that I never saw in myself. She has taught me not to limit my abilities.
I have worked the entire time I have been attending SNHU, so I haven't been able to be super involved outside of academic activities. I do enjoy spending time in the Women's Center in between classes.
The most challenging for me is finding the time to get my work done when one of my kids' schedules throws me off. I deal with this by taking my work along for the ride – another reason to love SNHU, the mobility.
I am really proud of how well I have done at SNHU and how motivated I am to continue! I have gotten good grades during my time at SNHU and never thought I would be excited to continue on to get my master's degree, but I am very excited to do that!
The scholarship donation has helped tremendously by allowing me to move forward and not let finances get in the way.
Don't limit yourself! If there is a club you want to join, or a class you want to take, do it! If you find it to be too much, you can always pull back, but don't miss out on experiences you are interested in.
I plan to actively seek employment in my new field of study, while also starting to successfully establish my private investigation firm.
I would love to be able to mentor future accounting students to help them figure out what they want to do after school. I have learned a lot from young people working in accounting, and would love to help others in the same way.
