SNHU provides the flexibility to complete college courses during my ever-changing military schedule. The instructors have been extremely helpful when I encounter a time crunch. The staff has been wonderful and always answer my questions quickly.
I have attended courses using Navy Tuition Assistance (TA) for a majority of the time. Because TA only covers four of six courses in a fiscal year, I pay out of pocket for the remaining two. The scholarship enables me to continue pursuing my higher education. I live as a single sailor with no roommates. By the end of the month, between a mortgage, utilities, and other various bills, I'm usually very tight on funds. The scholarship is a huge help as I get closer to wrapping up my associate degree and move onto my BS in IT.
To all those who donated to scholarships, THANK YOU for believing in students like me. Thank you for the opportunity to seek higher education. Thank you for giving me this incredible opportunity.
This school is extremely accommodating with my ever-changing military schedule. The courses are streamlined very well. Completing course work is a never easy task, but SNHU makes it possible while serving as active-duty military.
My hope for a college education is to learn the skills and knowledge required to seek a career in information technology. I have learned a vast array of subjects and hope that I can contribute to shaping the future of technology for our great country, America.
I have always been interested in computers from a young age. My dream job is to become a Network Administrator. I would love to build, develop, and maintain computer networks.
My first academic advisor, April Rogers, was very influential in establishing my SNHU experience. Though I wouldn't say I learned any specific lessons from her, all communication made me feel like I was actually important in her eyes. She was willing to put forth extra effort to ensure every question or circumstance I was working through could be accomplished.
I have not had the opportunity to be involved on campus while serving as active-duty military. I would like to visit the campus one day and meet some of the SNHU people I have only interacted with online.
My biggest challenge is the fear of selfishness. It's easy to get caught up focusing only on one's self. Both my military service and college work have taught me that group success is better than individual merit. I overcome this by participating in all discussion posts with my fellow students as well as assisting fellow sailors in pursuing their college goals.
I am proud of maintaining a high GPA in all of the courses I have taken. Balancing military service, travel, and long work hours is no easy task. Though sometimes I feel like "I have no life" outside of school, my commitment to success drives me to do my best on every assignment and that commitment is visible from my GPA.
As an alumnus, I want to share my experiences with those around me and encourage them to pursue SNHU as their college. My influence so far has inspired my sister and her husband, as well as two fellow sailors, to enroll in SNHU. I will continue to share my enthusiasm with those around me.
