A Note from Your Site Leader, Rachael Straehle: My favorite part of SNHU Global Days of Service was seeing everyone come together for a common cause to help an organization that is very near and dear to my heart. Sometimes I feel like on campus students and COCE students are very separated and this month is an amazing way to come together and learn more about each other and to give back!
What Went Down: Eight members of the SNHU community came together to drop off collection bags and door hangers in local neighborhoods to advertise a food drive for the CareGivers Caring Cupboard Food Drive. Local project coordinator Rachael Straehle said that not only was it fulfilling to see people coming together for a cause that is near and dear to her heart, but it was also an amazing way for campus and online students to come together and learn more about each other!
The CareGivers Inc. helps the elderly and disabled in the Greater Manchester and Nashua, NH area to remain in their homes for as long as possible. CareGivers recruits, screens, trains, and coordinates volunteers to offer presence and assistance to those in need, like transportation, assistance with grocery shopping, free food packages, friendly visits, and reassurance calls. All of these services are offered free of charge. Last year, thanks to volunteers like you, the organization was able to collect over 25,000 pounds of food for local seniors and homebound clients in need.
