SNHU was much different than I expected. My girlfriend and family went to other local schools that are much different than SNHU. Despite this, I actually really liked SNHU right off the bat. I came from a smaller high school. The classrooms and the way that the school was structured really stuck out to me. However, the real reason that I choose SNHU was for the 3Year Honors Program. I was ready to send in my deposit to another school, but I decided that I should probably take a tour of SNHU before I made my final decision. So I went a Penmen For a Day and I’m sure glad I did. The selling point for me was a presentation done by Kyle Viator, the current director of the 3Year Honors Program, who really sold the program perfectly. I was so excited by the program that I went up and asked him if I could schedule an interview and I ended up interviewing on the spot. I got a phone call the next day saying that I was accepted. And that is why I choose SNHU. I just knew when I saw it that it instantly felt like home.
Ultimately my hope is that I can get a great job! I guess I just pictured big lecture halls and less involvement in the campus. I feel like there are always cool events happening and things to do and clubs to join, rather than just academics.
This is what I was talking about in last question. There just seems like so much to do and so many friends to make. I love that, and I couldn’t image going to a crazy party school or a giant campus. The people here from students to staff all love SNHU and look to make it the best that they can.
My math teacher Scott Milne taught me about how interesting and fun school can be and how a teacher-student bond can grow. I would stay after for extra help with him and would end up getting into great conversations about his wife and kid, vacations he has been on and just talking as if we were best friends. I loved that. It again strengthens the friendliness aspect of SNHU.
I am active member of Radio SNHU, the Economics and Finance Association, and the Math Club, with plans to explore more clubs in the future.
I don’t know. This seems to be a very open question. I would say that I am very dedicated to school and care a lot about grades as well as enjoying myself and spending time with my friends. I’m not much of a partyer, I love talking and having interesting and meaningful conversations with the people that are closest to me. I love class and learning but homework is what makes school difficult for me.
Balancing everything! School, clubs, family, a girlfriend, working two jobs, my friends, sleep, just staying sane, and every other thing in my life. The key is planning, and adapting when I have too much to do.
I’m proudest of how well I am balancing all of this and really figuring out what I want to do with my life and how well I am executing it. I get great grades, and am generally very happy with my life.
My best memory was when I ended my interview for the 3Year Honors Program and how excited I was that I could potentially be part of such an amazing program and university.
First off, it’s not rocket science, so RELAX! … Well that’s unless you’re actually studying rocket science, but SNHU does offer that so you’re good. But really, at the end of the day, it’s all going to be okay. One bad grade will not break you, so don’t give up. Aim to get A’s, but don’t think it’s the end of the world if you don’t get them. Also, be sure to study as well. For me college hasn’t even been THAT hard, and is much easier than AP classes I took in my junior and senior year of high school. Don’t wait till the last minute to do everything, and things will go much smoother. As long as you take notes in class, stay organized, and don’t just get smashed every single night then you’ll be fine. Have your fun but be responsible. In the aspect of fun that isn’t partying, get involved! Join organizations or clubs, even if it is something that you’ve never done before. It’s a great way to meet new people, and gain new experiences. Another piece of advice would be to get to know your professor. It makes everything so much less stressful. On a final note, it’s okay to not know what you want to do at 18 years old, take your time and you will find you passion. Think of college as an investment on yourself, you wouldn’t want it to turn into a bad investment so do your best to get the best return on that investment as you can. I could go on and on. College seems scary but it’s really not that bad. Also commuting isn’t a bad thing, the current SGA president was a commuter and she seem to one of the most involved students on campus I know. If you don’t have the money or opportunity to live on campus, you’ll still have a ton of fun!
I will definitely come to special events that I am invited to, as well as try to help SNHU students get jobs. I will always try to reach out to SNHU for job fairs and everything like that. If SNHU wants to me back I will come because they have done so much for me that I want to do something is return. I would love to stay connected to the honors programs.
My favorite class I’ve taken thus far has either been Calculus I with Professor Milne, or Human Relations in Administration/Business Foundations with Professor Painchaud.
I’m starting to read Different Seasons by Stephen King, and I just finished Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. The last movie I saw was Jurassic World. But my favorite movie would be Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, and my favorite TV show is the Walking Dead. But those are just because I am forced to pick something. My love of books, movies, and TV shows spans across all genres.
Because I am a commuter and my house is so loud, my favorite spot would be the top floor of the Shapiro Library.
