Event details: Saturday, April 1, 2023 | 10 am-12 pm | Mass Audubon - Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary (208 S Great Rd, Lincoln, MA 01773)
Learn more: Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change. They protect wildlife, conserve and restore resilient land, advocate for impactful environmental policies, offer nationally recognized education programs for adults and children, and provide endless opportunities to experience the outdoors at our wildlife sanctuaries, including Drumlin Farm.
Volunteers will be assisting with habitat restoration, which consists of cutting back overgrowth, pulling invasive species, and trail maintenance. After our shift is over, volunteers are welcome to walk the trails or visit the farmyard to see the animals – the facility has sheep, goats, cows, chickens, pigs, and a pony. Plus this year’s lambs and kids will have been born by then! Mass Audubon will supply the tools but you can bring your own hand clippers if you'd like. Additionally, volunteers should dress for the weather in clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Dress in layers. Bring work/garden gloves. High school aged children allowed with an adult. Parking and restroom facilities available on site. If weather is inclement, your site leader will reach out to let you know if the project will be rescheduled or canceled.
