Learn more: Letters Against Depression (LAD) is a volunteer-run 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides hope and support to those battling mental illnesses through the power of handwritten letters. Since 2014, LAD has delivered more than 40,000 piece of mail, letters, cards, hugs, and other goodies to people in over 60 countries. Volunteers were asked to hand-write letters of hope and support and for those with an artistic side, create a "hug" to accompany a letter.
The project leader put together some helpful resources. Participants mailed completed items to LAD directly.
On April 12, a group of volunteers met virtually to write letters together. One attendee said, "I love this program, it's very needed in today's world. I feel like I will still be writing letters for years to come."
