Event details: April 2023 | DIY
What went down: For people experiencing homelessness, having access to facilities where they can take care of themselves are very scarce. This is where many non-profits have stepped in to support this exact mission to provide mobile showers, hygiene kits and so much more. For this project, volunteers were encouraged to find an organization near them that has a mission to provide some of the most basic human rights to vulnerable members in our community.
One example is Hearts of Rescue in Texas, where people experiencing homelessness can take a hot shower and get some clean clothes. Another example is Shower Up, which has multiple locations across the country. Organizations that are similar to these two, may be looking for volunteers to help directly, or could be asking for donations through a wishlist on their website. Volunteers can research a non-profit to read more about what their exact needs are.
