Young Alumni Fall Newsletter

A Message From Brody Glidden '16

Everyone's educational journey is unique, shaped by their experiences, challenges, and opportunities. For me, my educational journey began at NHTI, Concord's Community College, and took me through various institutions, ultimately leading me to my passion for giving back and making a difference in the field of higher education. Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) was the space where I laid the foundation for my pursuit of higher education, it is the space that allowed me to find myself, my passions, and little did I know that it was only the beginning of a lifelong commitment to learning, personal growth, and giving back.

After completing my time at NHTI, I transferred to SNHU to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management. Graduating in 2016 was a proud moment, but my thirst for knowledge and personal development did not end there. Driven by my passion for higher education and student support, I enrolled in the University of Central Missouri to pursue a Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel Administration. I firmly believe in the power of giving back to the community that has supported and shaped me. It is this belief that led me to serve as a Residence Hall Coordinator at East Carolina University for four years and as an Academic Coordinator at TRIO-Student Support Services. These experiences allowed me to support and guide students on their educational journeys, advocating for their success and well-being.

My commitment to equal access in education led me to Beacon College. Currently, I am honored to serve as the Director of Summer Programming & College Bookstore at Beacon College, a pioneering institution that provides higher education for students with learning differences such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning challenges. Working at Beacon College has been a deeply fulfilling experience, as I witness firsthand the incredible potential of every student and their capacity to overcome obstacles.

My connection with SNHU did not end with graduation. I have actively participated in hosting groups of SNHU students during their alternative spring break trips to North Carolina and volunteered for SNHU Global Days of Service. Additionally, I am proud to serve as a member of the Alumni Board of Directors, where I continue to contribute my time and expertise to support the university and its initiatives. During Homecoming, I had the privilege of assisting with virtual events as an alumni representative, reconnecting with the SNHU community that played a pivotal role in my educational journey.

Being an active and engaged alumnus is a responsibility that I wholeheartedly embrace. I strongly believe in leaving a space better than how I found it, and this perspective extends to all the organizations and educational institutions I have been fortunate enough to be connected with. I maintain a philanthropic view, recognizing the importance of equal access to education, supporting educational programs, and fostering opportunities for success for all individuals.

My educational journey has been a remarkable one, filled with growth, learning, and a deep commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. From my humble beginnings at NHTI, Concord’s Community College to my experiences at SNHU and beyond, I have been fortunate to receive support and guidance along the way. By giving back and staying engaged with the educational institutions that have shaped me, I hope to inspire others to believe in the power of education and in leaving a lasting, positive mark on the world.

With Penmen Pride,
Brody Glidden '16
