November 2022

Welcome from Paul Gray ’13

The SNHU community has been a huge part of our family for quite some time. My wife and I both started our SNHU journey in 2010, after her cousin and sister earned their degrees at the university. We graduated in 2013 and 2014 and immediately settled down close by and started our careers. In 2018, we bought our first home in Hooksett, right up the road from campus! Present day, both my brother and sister are SNHU undergraduate students. SNHU has provided our family with a tremendous education, foundation for our professional lives and a community of support that’s helped to guide us along the way. Having the opportunity to give back to the SNHU community has been extremely fulfilling for me, especially given all that it has done for me and my family.

The biggest thing that sets students up for success, to me, is professional experience. Internships, mock interviews, resume critiques, competitions — all of these are invaluable to a student’s professional development as it pertains to the transition to the business world. These are all areas that SNHU invests in for its students, and these are the areas that I felt most drawn to in the way of giving back.

Coming from the early days of the SNHU Sales Program and navigating sales as a career, I’ve found volunteering my time as a Sales Coach/Mentor for the Sales Competition course has been a great fit and an enjoyable experience. From in-person meetings to virtual sessions during COVID, volunteering in this capacity has allowed me to directly see the improvements and incremental progress as the students worked towards an end goal. Being goal oriented myself, working with students in this way has been extremely rewarding. Further still, I’ve followed along with many of my former mentees who have gone on to begin successful sales careers post-graduation.

There are countless interesting and creative ways to give back to our alma mater. There are plenty of opportunities to provide value, time, or insight to the student body. The best advice I can give is to find something that feels natural and you’re passionate about. The students will benefit immensely from your efforts, and this will help the entire SNHU community flourish even more!

Thank you!
Paul Gray ’13

Discussion with Abigail Disney | Monday, Dec. 12, 2022 | 12:30-2 pm ET
Global Citizens Circle invites you to a discussion with Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Roy Disney, co-founder of the Walt Disney Company. Abigail is a social justice activist and documentary filmmaker. Her recently released documentary, “The American Dream and Other Fairytales”, looks at America’s dysfunctional and unequal economy and asks why the American Dream only comes true for the wealthy. To imagine a more equitable future, Abigail uses her family’s story to explore how these systemic injustices took hold. Fill out the informational form to register for this virtual event!
