The Low-Residency MFA in Fiction and Nonfiction program makes every effort to ensure the program is accessible to all worthy students. Here is a small sampling of the students assisted in their education by MFA scholarships:
Kevin P. Keating ’18 is the author of the novel The Natural Order of Things, which was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. He’s working on a new novel.
David Moloney ’17 was a guard at Manchester’s Valley St. Prison until he went back to school and earned his bachelor’s degree at UMass Lowell. There, his writing caught the attention of Andre Dubus III—author of House of Sand and Fog and Townie—who recommended him to our program. He’s at work on a novel set in the prison.
Amy Irvine McHarg ’14 won an Orion Book Award for her memoir Trespass. She has a contract with Counterpoint Books for an essay collection she began in the program, mentored by faculty member Leslie Jamison, author of The Empathy Exams.
