February 2025

Welcome from Chantel Wolters '18G & Hayley Grenier '15G

Wow, 10 years of Global Days of Service (GDS) at SNHU! This tradition has become something to look forward to each year and is an incredible way for alumni, students, faculty, and staff to make a difference.

We’ve been fortunate to volunteer for a variety of projects over the years (shout out to gardening, beach cleanups, care packaging sorting, and many more!). It’s truly inspiring to see the GDS experience be shared by so many at SNHU—our commitment to volunteerism speaks to the values we embody as a community, regardless of role or location.

After years of participating, we chose to lead our own GDS service project last year. We were anxious at first (and to be very honest, throughout), but decided to take the leap! During the planning process we found that the SNHU community made all the difference, as we encountered familiar faces and made new connections. We were even excited to discover when we reached out to our event site that their operations manager was a current SNHU student and alumna. We came away from the experience feeling grateful that we stepped outside our comfort zone in service of a great cause—the nerves were worth it!

Volunteering with GDS has given us the chance to meet amazing people, challenge ourselves, and stay involved in a meaningful way. Plus, it’s a great reminder that giving back doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Every effort makes a difference.

As we celebrate this milestone, we want to encourage you to be part of this incredible tradition. Whether you lead an event or join one, there’s a way for everyone to contribute. Go check out the GDS page and find something that speaks to you. Cheers to 10 years of impact—and many more to come!

Thank you!
Chantel Wolters '18G & Hayley Grenier '15G

Global Days of Service | March 1 – April 30, 2025 | #ServeWithSNHU
Spring of 2025 will mark our 10th annual Global Days of Service (GDS), a two-month-long initiative that brings Penmen together to make a difference in their local communities around the world. To go BIG for year 10, 10 projects are taking place across the first 10 days of March. You can get involved in any of the following ways:

  1. Submit your plans to lead a project and add it to the 2025 map!
  2. Register and serve at an official GDS project happening virtually or in-person.
  3. Join the ‘Serve with SNHU’ Facebook group to stay in-the-know and connect with fellow Penmen do-gooders.

Want to lead a project this year, but not sure where to start? Check out our Site Leader 101 playlist on YouTube. The deadline for 2025 projects is April 1.

Alternative Break Community Dinners | Puerto Rico & Georgia
Campus students participating in SNHU’s Alternative Break Program will be traveling to the Luquillo area in Puerto Rico and Atlanta, GA to learn about and help address needs that exist in those communities over their spring break, March 1–9. We’re hosting community dinners while they’re in town to allow local alumni and students to meet up and provide trip participants with a broader perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing these areas. Dates and dinner locations are firming up now. Interested in joining them? Contact Associate Director of Alumni Engagement Becca Lazinsk.

Virtual Mock Interviews—Volunteers Needed!
Join us for virtual mock interviews this spring! These interviews allow campus-based students to connect with alumni and/or employer partners to practice interviewing skills. We’re asking volunteers for a minimum one-hour time commitment for this event, but you’re welcome to sign up for multiple sessions:

  • Wednesday, March 19 | 9–10 am ET
  • Wednesday, March 19 | 10–11 am ET
  • Wednesday, March 19 | 11 am–12 pm ET

Learn more and sign up to volunteer!

Active Citizen Network (ACN)
Have you made community service an integral part of your SNHU experiences, and do you continue to dedicate time to improving your community and the world around you? If so, we invite you to apply to the ACN: a civic society of SNHU alumni and graduating seniors who continue to commit themselves to being active and involved citizens. You’ll be able to learn from, network with and continue to grow within the SNHU community, resulting in your ability to make a greater and stronger impact in the communities in which you work and play. Learn even more about this dynamic group!

If you’re interested in joining, we encourage you to apply and help us build our network! Applications are due by April 1. Should you have questions, please email the Associate Director of The Chandler Center Kelley Hobbs.

Alumni Welcome Table | Commencement Weekend | May 2–4
Robert A. Freese Student Center Lobby, SNHU, 2500 N. River Rd, Manchester, NH
Help celebrate SNHU’s newest graduates! We will have giveaways, snacks, photo opportunities, etc. to help welcome graduates and their families to campus, many for the first time. Volunteer your time for a low-stress, fun way to commemorate our newest alumni. If you’re interested, please reach out to Becca Lazinsk who will share additional details and timeframes as May approaches.

Alumni Board of Directors Applications: Due June 1
The Nominations Committee is currently seeking dynamic leaders to help shape the alumni experience and volunteer in meaningful ways to enhance the SNHU experience for all. Members of the Board are elected to serve a three-year term, with the new term starting in September 2025. Check out the SNHU Alumni Board of Directors Job Description for further details.

Interested alumni should email a letter of intent and a résumé to alumni@snhu.edu no later than June 1, 2025. Candidates will be interviewed this summer, and recommendations will be sent to the Executive Committee for final approval. Learn more and meet the 2024-2025 board.
