What Happened: On Thursday, April 18, a group of SNHU volunteers assisted at Henry Wilson Elementary, which serves Manchester students in grades K-5. The group had a great day helping the school in a variety of ways: assisting with science projects in third grade classrooms, helping in art classes, playing soccer games at recess, coloring with first graders at indoor recess, going to the library with students, and even eating lunch with them.
Site leader Cassandra Broughton said "I think we made a lasting impact on the staff and students. I think each one of us was asked multiple times by children if we could stay longer."
Wilson Elementary teachers were equally pleased. One teacher said, "what an amazing group of volunteers. I could never have accomplished so much with my kids today without them." Another noted, "I often worry about having volunteers in my class because sometimes it adds more stress, but these volunteers were the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They had a huge impact in my classroom."
