Most Americans enjoy posting content about their personal lives, as well as their political attitudes, on social media. Many companies have social media policies for employees. If you violate these policies, you could be terminated. Is that fair?
During this conversation, we looked at the ethical and legal issues that are raised by social media posts. Attendees considered prominent celebrity firings, as well as less publicized examples, and discussed the rights and responsibilities of individuals and their employers. Josh is the Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian at Southern New Hampshire University. He has worked at SNHU since 2015. Professor Becker is the current Christos and Mary Papoutsy Distinguished Chair in Leadership Ethics. As Papoutsy Chair, Josh is dedicated to raising awareness about user data and corporate policies. Josh holds an MSLIS from the University of Illinois and an MAT in English Education from Boston University. His research interests include: Information Ethics, Corporate Transparency, Metaliterary, Assessment, and Universal Design.

Ann Sanok teaches Business Law at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Irvine and a Law degree from Suffolk University Law School.
