Alumni, Family and Friends
March 21, 2019 | Alumni Hall, Gustafson Center, SNHU
To Share Brewing Company, Manchester Makerspace, and Boards and Brews are all led by SNHU-affiliated community members. These entrepreneurs shared how they have brought their passions to Manchester and hope to ignite the business community’s landscape with creativity and new possibilities.
Dr. Michael Evans, Vice President of Academic Affairs for University College at SNHU, kicked off the conversation with opening remarks.
Steve Korzyniowski '86 '88MBAPresident of the Board of Manchester Makerspace
Steve Korzyniowski is a tinkerer, mechanical engineer, musician, artist, and perpetual entrepreneur. Korzyniowski is a third generation resident of Hooksett/Manchester, whose mother worked in Manchester’s Waumbec mills during WWII making parachutes for American soldiers, and whose father was a machinist for a Manchester manufacturer. *Making* is in his blood, and he is thrilled to have co-founded Manchester Makerspace in an abandoned mill in the city. Korzyniowski earned an MBA from SNHU, and a degree in mechanical engineering from New Hampshire Technical Institute. He started his career as a designer for AT&T Bell Laboratories, and has worked for large companies as well as start-ups.
Jennifer ShareSNHU Executive Director of Project Atlas, and Co-owner and Founder of To Share Brewing Company
Jennifer Share and her husband, Aaron, opened To Share Brewing Company, a neighborhood brewery and taproom, in late 2018. A community gathering spot, the brewery’s goal is to show how the power of beer can remind everyone that we have more things in common than differences between us.
In addition, Share is executive director of Project Atlas at Southern New Hampshire University. This pilot program continues to test SNHU’s online, competency-based education efforts as a lower-cost pathway to the on-campus educational experience, giving another group of individuals access to education in ways they had not thought possible.
Keating TuftsCo-founder of Boards and Brews
Born and raised in Manchester, N.H., Keating Tufts is a homegrown entrepreneur who decided to bring something fresh to the community he grew up in. After graduating from Central High School in 2008, Keating enrolled at SNHU and started working at the Granite YMCA, gaining skills to pursue his passion of Organizational Leadership.
In 2012, Tufts began work as a social worker for adults with intellectual disabilities, and discovered the promise of board games to bring people together and 'unplug' from too much technology in our lives. Inspired by a story about a board game café in Toronto, Canada, Tufts developed a business plan, expanded his personal board game library, and began hosting game events in Manchester.
Tufts followed his passion full time in 2017 by launching a successful Kickstarter campaign and renovating a retail space at 941 Elm Street, now the home of Boards & Brews. With more than 1,700 board games, the full-service restaurant has further enlivened Manchester's downtown and welcomed nearly 20,000 patrons since opening in Spring 2018.
