In his research, Dr. Lewis has paired cutting-edge technology with populations in need of assistance. His humanoid robot builds relationships with children suffering from autism spectrum disordrs (ASD) to work on the most fundamental challenges faced by autistic children, beginning with making eye contact and working up to playing with others. Dr. Lewis will give a brief demonstration with one of his robots, highlighting how this humanoid can help therapists, parents, and children find cooperative, systemic solutions.

Meet the Speaker

Dr. Lundy Lewis, Southern New Hampshire University
As the current Papoutsy Distinguished Chair in Ethics and Social Responsibility, Dr. Lewis is exploring the possibilities and ethical implications of addressing social concerns using robots, intelligent avatars, and even video games. He is a professor of computer information technology, chair of the Information Technology Department, and co-chair of the game design and development program.
