Smartphone Photography Tips

If you're looking for ways to elevate your photo skills for the SNHU Archives Showcase or Virtual 5K Photo Album, here are some helpful tips to take amazing photos with just your smartphone:

• Take multiple pictures and compare.
• Take pictures from more than one perspective.
• Pick an attractive but plain and non-distracting background. Plain paper can make items stand out. Black backgrounds can help reduce glare and reflections.
• Pay attention to lighting, natural light is best.
  • If you are using artificial light, pay attention to shadows. If possible, put the light below the level of the lens to avoid the phone from casting a shadow on your subject.
  • Some photographers recommend turning the phone upside down so the lens is closer to the subject.
• Hold the camera as steady as possible. Prop your elbows up on a table or use a tripod.
