Event details: Friday, March 31, 2023 | 1-3:30 pm | Los Angeles Regional Food Bank - City of Industry Site (2300 Pellissier Place, City of Industry, CA 90601)
What went down: Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has worked to mobilize resources in the community to alleviate hunger. With the help of 15,000 volunteers annually and an agency network of more than 600 partner agencies, they serve more than 800,000 people on a monthly basis.
The Food Bank provides and distributes food and other essentials to children, seniors and families that are in need. Community support enables the Food Bank to serve hundreds of thousands of individuals every month. The majority of the food goes to low-income families and individuals who sometimes struggle to make ends meet in the Los Angeles area.
Five SNHU students and staff built and packaged 791 boxes that will be distributed locally. Project leader Tania says, "volunteering is a wonderful way to give back and make an impact on the lives of millions. Knowing that our efforts will change the day and life for individuals with food insecurities is more rewarding than we could have ever imagined."
