Alumni, Family and Friends
Cancelled due to inclement weather.
Event details: Friday, April 12, 2024 | 11 am-2 pm | Sununu Youth Service Center (1056 River Road, Manchester, NH 03104)
Learn more: The New Hampshire Food Bank serves as the only food bank in the state, working to provide nutritious food and resources to the hundreds of thousands of New Hampshire residents that are food insecure. The Food Bank supplies millions of pounds of food annually to more than 425 partner agencies, including food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programs, senior centers and more. In turn, these agencies provide hunger relief to those suffering from food insecurity throughout the state.
The NH Food Bank Production Garden grows vegetables for the NH Food Bank. We're looking for volunteers to help with spring gardening tasks, such as tilling, weeding, flipping the beds, and digging new beds. Individuals and groups welcome!
Tools will be provided. We recommend you bring your own pair of gardening gloves, though some work gloves will be available to borrow. Wear weather appropriate, closed-toe footwear for working in the dirt and mud; work boots are recommended. Please dress in layers. Bring sunscreen, a filled water bottle and any snacks if needed. This project is family-friendly; you know your child(ren) better than we do, so if they're willing and able to dig in the dirt with us, bring them along! Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Participants will meet at a large fenced-in garden with a shed and shelter (you can't miss it!). The land is shared with the Youth Development Center, please stay away from the buildings. Limited parking is available on site; carpooling is recommended. Portapotty available on site.
All volunteers will need to sign two liability/photo releases, one for SNHU and one for the NH Food Bank.
