Event details: Monday, May 8, 2023 | 8 am-2 pm | SNHU Arboretum (2500 North River Road, Manchester, New Hampshire 03106)
What went down: The SNHU Arboretum was established and accredited by ArbNet in 2016. A variety of student-led research monitoring projects take place in the space's 25-acre forested wetland. This event was put on in partnership with Manchester’s educational community and SNHU employees. On a perfect spring day, attendees learned about the topic of air quality, what impacts it and how to mitigate factors that impact air in a negative manner. Afterwards, participants completed field work using hand air quality monitors. Field-based, public-facing education provides SNHU academic members, staff, and the community's youth with real-world job experience. Teaching youth about the effects society makes and the impacts on marginalized communities, research-based scientific analysis, analytical thinking, and overall that science is fun and leads to results driven actions.
