Alumni, Family and Friends
Event details: Wednesday, April 10, 2024 | 9 am-2 pm | Conservation Center (Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests Headquarters, 54 Portsmouth St., Concord, NH 03301)
Learn more: Volunteers participated in a spring cleanup around the Conservation Center; tasks included raking, pruning back plants, and mulching. A short walk down the hill from the Center, volunteers completed trail maintenance on the Merrimack River floodplain trail, cutting back overgrown plants, caring for spring mulberry saplings, and installing seasonal fencing to reduce human impacts on a vulnerable habitat.
Site leader Emily shared this wrap up: “Our group was comprised of 10 SNHU employees who represented the Graduate Advising team and the Registrar’s Office. Together, we spread over 10 yards of mulch to freshly prepped beds, removed winter debris from the grounds around the Conservation Center and gardens, and assisted with various painting projects that will be utilized along the hiking trails at the Conservation Center. It was a cooler and rainy spring day, but we were happy to work together on this project and witness the final results! The time and work our team dedicated will benefit visitors who can enjoy the bountiful gardens in the summer and hike well-maintained trails along the Merrimack River!”
