Alumni, Family and Friends
Event details: Thursday, April 10, 2025 | 9 am-2 pm | Conservation Center (Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests Headquarters, 54 Portsmouth St., Concord, NH 03301)
Learn more: Volunteers will work on spring cleanup around the Conservation Center, which is the headquarters of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. Tasks may include raking, pruning back plants, and mulching. A short walk down the hill from the Center, volunteers will complete trail maintenance on the Merrimack River floodplain trail, cutting back overgrown plants, caring for spring mulberry saplings, and installing seasonal fencing to reduce human impacts on a vulnerable habitat. We will be working in wet areas along the trails and river (likely to be a bit muddy), landscaping in wet material, and possible painting activities.
All tools will be provided, including options for work gloves. Participants are welcome to bring their own work gloves if preferred. Please dress in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty; we recommend layers, long pants, closed-toed shoes, and sun/rain protection. Bring a reusable water bottle which can be refilled inside of the Conservation Center. Participants will need to bring lunch, which can be taken on the deck of the Conservation Center or another comfortable outside space.
Project is open to volunteers aged 18 or older. Ample parking and bathroom facilities available at the Center. Upon arrival, follow the driveway through the forested portion until coming to a Y in the drive. Follow the one-way sign and take the right at the Y. Continue to follow this around to the first parking lot entrance on the left. Park anywhere in this lot.
