Learn more: Let's KNIT FOR FIT! For this project, volunteers knit or crocheted 7"x9" rectangles using a worsted-weight acrylic yarn. Check out Warm Up America's pattern and yarn resources. Completed items were mailed or delivered to project leader, Kathleen, who will join the rectangles into blankets. Once finished, the blankets will be donated to Families in Transition's (FIT) Family Emergency Shelter in Manchester, NH. FIT's Family Emergency Shelter offers 11 units for families with children, providing regular meals and ongoing support to help families exiting homelessness.
Volunteers needed to supply their own yarn and tools, and pay their own mailing costs. Kathleen hosted a few in-person meetups for project participants to learn how to knit or crochet, and as a way for volunteers to spend time together while stitching.
