What went down: This project encouraged people to make a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families and caregivers. Patient lodging programs offer cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be away from home. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting better.
We asked SNHU community members to give their time at a cancer patient lodging program. Many of these houses/lodges need volunteers for in-service positions. For example, the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge has various locations across the country, and volunteers are critical for sustainability.
Many cancer patient lodging programs also need various household and miscellaneous facility items, and often these programs have a Wishlist. For example, The Boston House is a small organization (501(c)3) in Massachusetts that heavily relies on donations through its active Amazon Wishlist to sustain house needs and accommodate patients. Complete this project anytime in March or April. Please follow your local COVID-19 guidelines when volunteering.
