Event details: Thursday, May 1, 2025 | 3-5 pm | Colt State Park, Bristol, RI
Learn more: Help keep Narragansett Bay clean with Save The Bay! Shoreline trash is ugly and harmful to wildlife, and cleanups are a great way to make a difference. We provide trash bags, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and insect repellent - you bring the helping hands.
Cleanups are recommended for ages 8+. Ages 16+ may participate independently; children ages 8-15 may participate with a parent or guardian. Parents with children will be asked to sign a family waiver at the event.
Meet at the Surprise Hill parking lot of Colt State Park. Bring your own water - we recommend a reusable bottle! Bring garden or work gloves (disposable gloves will be available). Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and dress for the weather. Plan time to shower and change afterward.
Optional: Save resources by bringing your own trash grabber and bucket for collecting trash. Use the tick repellent and sunscreen provided or bring your own. Watch for poison ivy and don’t touch it. Stay within sight of the group and watch your step. Avoid slippery rocks and sensitive dunes. Don’t overfill trash bags or carry heavy items without help. For sharp items or needles, inform a leader for proper disposal volunteers will be asked to complete a paper waiver.
Cleanup takes place rain or shine! If the weather is truly torrential, icy/snowy, or there are thunderstorms, we will cancel and notify everyone by email. Check your messages before you leave for the cleanup or reach out to your project leader.
