Alumni, Family and Friends
What Happened: On Saturday, April 13, Dallas experienced some intense rain, hail, and 20+ MPH winds. Despite the truly difficult weather conditions, 15 Penmen arrived at the CC Young Senior Living facility to volunteer. We were greeted by Shannon Critchlow, volunteer coordinator for the facility. She led us through a 20 minute orientation where she provided an overview of the facility, and tips on working with the residents of the memory care unit, all of whom suffer from some form of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The group was broken down to pairs and triads, where we partnered up with small groups of residents and played a version of Family Feud. Overall, the members of the SNHU community all remarked that the volunteer time was quite rewarding and memorable, and that they initially didn’t know what to expect. Shannon remarked that our group was very well received and hoped that the SNHU community would volunteer again soon.
