What went down: During the month of April, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) offered an academy to train individuals to be prepared for disasters and be ready to help their family, neighbors, and community when disaster strikes. The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Training was free and consisted of eight units of core training, skills testing and graduation.
