COVID-19 Update: We are closely monitoring developments regarding the coronavirus. The health, safety, and wellbeing of the SNHU community is of the utmost importance to us. We are not taking registrations for any in-person Global Days of Service projects at this time. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
Event Details: Friday, April 24, 2020 | 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Food Bank of the Rockies (10700 E. 45th Avenue, Denver, CO)
Learn More: Food Bank of the Rockies is helping people thrive.
Food is the foundation for a happy, healthy life. Hunger can be found everywhere - often where you least expect it. 1 in 7 Coloradans worry where their next meal will come from. These are people you meet every day - those with low wage jobs, children, seniors on fixed incomes, those with health issues. Surprisingly, the homeless represent only 10% of the Food Bank's food recipients; nearly 50% feeds local children. For this project, volunteers will help pull and build orders in the warehouse; inspect, clean, sort, and repack perishable and non-perishable grocery items for distribution; and assist partner agencies with loading. Most areas require the ability to move freely and lift up to 30 pounds.
Please wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers, work boots) and clothing appropriate for a warehouse workplace setting; clothing that is overly revealing or suggestive is not allowed. Shirts/tops must have a strap over each shoulder and the bottom of shirts/tops must meet or be longer than the top of the pants so that the midriff is not exposed. No undergarments may be visible when in normal posture (sitting or standing). No clothing that has a derogatory message or that promotes, suggests, or depicts violence.
On site parking is available. Snacks, drinks, and work gloves will be provided. Volunteers will have access to restrooms in the warehouse.
Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.
Once you register, you'll receive an email confirmation with event details, and your site leader will take it from there!
