Event Details: Saturday, April 18, 2020 | 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. | Pine Street Inn (444 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118)
Learn More: Founded in 1969, Pine Street Inn provides a comprehensive range of services to nearly 2,000 homeless men and women each day. They are the largest homeless services provider in New England. Since their founding, they have been providing a comprehensive range of programs and services, including housing, emergency services, and workforce development. Their ultimate goal is to end homelessness by making permanent housing a reality for all.
Volunteers will aid with meal preparation for the lunch time service, as well as complete food preparation for various non-profit organizations which utilize the kitchen service of Pine Street Inn. All kitchen volunteers are trained in food safety at the beginning of their shift. Tasks include chopping vegetables, making sandwiches, weighing food, and other meal prep.
Aprons provided; please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and a comfortable shirt. All volunteers must wear a hairnet or alternate head covering; bring a baseball cap if you prefer. Very limited parking is available in the Visitor Lot, located at 237 E. Berkeley Street. The entrance to this lot is just beyond the Mobil Gas Station. Volunteers are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation. If the Visitor Lot is full, paid parking is available across from 363 Albany Street for $2.50/hour.
Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older. Bathrooms facilities available on site.
