What Happened: Since 2012, The Theater Offensive (TTO) has celebrated LGBTQ Boston Marathon Runners with the #SissyThatRun event, which also serves as a fundraiser for TTO youth programs. The celebration was held at Club Cafe this year, significantly increasing the scale of the event.
On April 15, a group of SNHU volunteers helped setup decorations and assisted with registration and their raffle. More notably, a few extra-ambitious volunteers cheered on runners and encouraged spectators to check out the event, both at the marathon finish line and outside of Club Cafe, bringing in quite a few excited folks. We had an opportunity to meet runners from all over the country, and celebrate TTO's founder Abe's last run as the director of TTO (he'll be transitioning into a new role this summer). All of this set to the backdrop of drag performances, dancing, and an overall celebratory vibe, the event was a huge success and TTO exceeded their goal of raising $26,200 for their programs.
