Alumni, Family and Friends
What Happened: Volunteers participated in an Earth Day Celebration focused on giving back, and keeping our beaches clean. We joined forces with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, and One Ocean Conservation Hawaii. Centered at Waimanalo Beach Park, we cleaned from Sherwoods to Makapu'u with spots spread out in between. This year we also added an underwater element at Makai Research Pier. Armed with micro-plastic sand sifters, gloves, and determination, 1,548 volunteers came together to make a difference. They collected trees, debris, plastic, and trash that had washed ashore. Check out the 2018 Global Days of Service Google album for photos from this project.
Share Your Story: Remember to use #ServeWithSNHU to join the movement, and share your experience on social media, and you can always give us more details on the Share My Story page.
Stay Connected: Alumnus, and online graduate student Peter Spolarich '17 was your volunteer project leader for this event.
