Alumni, Family and Friends
Happy spring to my fellow alumni, and congratulations to all the recent SNHU graduates! My name is Gjilane (GJ) Morris, and as hard as it is to believe, I will be walking across the stage at this month’s Commencement ceremony in celebration of earning my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I have formed so many wonderful memories and experiences with my peers at SNHU. I want to take this time to acknowledge the impact that alumni have had on my college journey and share some of my post-graduation goals.
By far, the most substantial way that alumni have positively impacted my learning journey is through scholarships. I am extremely fortunate to have been awarded multiple named and endowed scholarships during my four years at SNHU, many of which are sponsored by SNHU graduates. These scholarships made it possible for me to continue going to school while I was dealing with major health issues throughout multiple semesters that resulted in hefty medical bills. I will always be grateful to the alumni that have been generous enough to support students like me in pursuing higher education despite personal challenges.
As a new member of SNHU’s alumni community, I’m excited to participate in the many events that I’ve helped with as an Alumni Engagement Assistant, such as Homecoming and Global Days of Service. Meeting fellow graduates and reuniting with classmates is something I’m definitely looking forward to! I also hope to support current students as an alumna in any way I can.
Going forward, I plan on continuing my higher education journey at SNHU through the university’s MBA program within the next few years. In the meantime, I plan to take a break from school to focus on my career. My long-term career goal is to advocate for and support workers through a job in human resources. I aspire to work towards becoming a Chief DEI Officer at a major organization one day! If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a college student, it’s persistence — to keep pushing forward through difficult times to achieve your goals. I truly believe I will be leaving SNHU as a stronger, more confident version of myself than when I first arrived!
You can read my blog posts reflecting on my student experiences on the SNHU Alumni website.
Have a wonderful spring everyone!
