Ed Shapiro | 1933-2025
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former SNHU president Ed Shapiro. Ed's lifelong commitment to education and Southern New Hampshire University laid the foundation for SNHU’s transformation into the university it is today. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Shapiro family, who have been such an integral part of SNHU’s story, and all whose lives Ed touched. A memorial service will be held in the SNHU Banquet Hall on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 11 am ET. The community is welcome to attend in person or via livestream.

The 11th annual SNHU LEADS Conference is coming up March 25-26, and we’re looking for both virtual and in-person presenters from the SNHU community! This year’s theme, Let’s Grow, invites attendees to branch out beyond what's familiar – to take risks, embrace change and seek new perspectives – to expand their influence as a leader. Join the Women’s Basketball team as they fill the gym with love and support for breast cancer fighters and survivors, and honor those who have lost their battle. Global Days of Service: Lead a Project March & April
This spring, SNHU will celebrate the 10th annual Global Days of Service (GDS), a two-month-long initiative that brings alumni, students, staff and faculty together from across the globe to make a difference. We’re looking for individuals to lead service projects for March and April. By serving as a project leader, you can create a tangible and lasting impact where you live. Whether it's supporting underprivileged communities, addressing environmental concerns, or advocating for social justice, your involvement can ignite meaningful change. Connie Hebert | 1935-2025
We are saddened to share the loss of Connie Hebert, a beloved member of the SNHU community. In her 40 years of working at SNHU, Connie supported a variety of departments over the years, including Residence Life, the Dean of Students and even custom sewing each Penmen cheerleading uniform by hand. Connie was presented with the Distinguished Service to Alumni Award in 2022 for her boundless dedication to SNHU and its learners. She saw and believed in the good in each student and could always be found with a smile on her face.

Barbara Marangon '23MFA, of Port Charlotte, Florida, won the 2024 bronze Royal Palm Literary Award for her novel The Body in the Malibran Theater.
Gjilane Morris-Gothrow '23, of Derry, New Hampshire, was married on Sept. 27, 2024, and was also promoted to a family services specialist at the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services on Nov. 29, 2024!
Jadon Nagle '24, of Fort Myers, Florida, was hired as a pollution control environmental scientist with Collier County Government.
Katie Nelson '20G, of Nashville, Tennessee, graduated in December 2024 with a Doctorate of Education in P-20 and Community Leadership with an emphasis in STEM Leadership from Murray State University.
Fred Quistgard '82, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, was inducted into the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame on Oct. 20, 2024. He is currently the goaltending coach for the Maine Mariners, the AA affiliate of the Boston Bruins.
Lynn Ward '02, of Lewiston, Maine, served as a technical reviewer for the AHIMA textbook, Quality and Performance Improvement in Healthcare. She also co-authored The Importance of Effective Communication, which was published on Nov. 22, 2024, by HIMSS.
