Alumni, Family and Friends
My journey with SNHU started with moving all the way from India to Manchester, New Hampshire to earn my master’s degree. I made sure to join student clubs like Student Government Association (SGA), Outing Club, and International Students Association (ISA) to help me get acquainted with the local community and other students at the university. I was able to grow my network by making friends and connections – many of whom I’m still in contact with.
I believe we all come into this world with nothing and it’s our personal/societal upbringings that drive us to find our purpose in life. I lead an independent life and strive for happiness and success – a lot of which comes through helping those in need. Volunteering gives me the opportunity to connect with others, be active and present in the moment, and experience all the programs run by the community.
Volunteering has truly become a part of my regular routine. I’ve been a “yes” person throughout all my life because I feel great pride in making other people happy. It all started with doing chores at home and helping my grandparents on summer vacations when I was younger. Once I became a working professional, I joined a volunteer network actively involved in helping young individuals with communication skills and interviewing for career or academic advancements. This gave me a deeper insight on social indifferences and challenges in society, which in turn made me want to push myself to volunteer even more!
Volunteering to cleanup parks, beaches and discussing campus environmental sustainability were my favorite activities when I was a part of Students for Environmental Action (SEA). I’m happy that I’m able to continue giving back as an SNHU alumnus. I love participating in volunteer opportunities with Career Services — such as mock interviews and being a part of panel discussions. Additionally, I became an active participant in SNHU’s Active Citizen Network (ACN) and encourage you to join this community service driven group too! All of this great work with SNHU also motivates me to keep up with my volunteering with Boston Cares for various events and activities.
I highly recommend volunteering with SNHU if you’re looking for a social network and to get involved in the community. Not only are you helping others … you’re learning and growing as an individual and having fun along the way!Sincerely, Vin Nuthalapati '17G SNHU Volunteer
