Name: Brittany Proctor
Class Of: 2015
Major: Child and Adolescent Psychology
School: Manchester Campus
I chose SNHU because I loved the overall atmosphere of the campus, they gave me a great scholarship package, and had a good program for the major I was choosing. I heard many good things about this University from others who attended. When I toured the school, it seemed like a perfect fit. The buildings were brand new, amazing, and I received a great first impression from my tour guide - better than any other college I looked at.
I am the first one in my family to go to college and get a degree. After receiving a college education, I want to be hardworking and successful and get a job that I enjoy going to everyday.
Without the scholarship and financial aid money that I receive from SNHU, I would truly not be able to attend this University. I am so lucky to go to a school that is able to help me out so much financially. This would not be possible without the assistance I received from staff as well as the donations SNHU receives for scholarships.
There are countless amounts of people that made my SNHU experience positive. Some who really have contributed to my experience here are President Paul LeBlanc, Helen Davies, Cheryl Hanninen, and those who donate to scholarships - they have all made attending SNHU possible for me. With the costs of tuition and coming from a middle class family, I was put in a situation where I thought I would not be able to continue with school and reach my goal of earning my degree. Cheryl encouraged me to reach out, tell my story, and ultimately find the assistance I needed. She has made such a huge impact in my life, being a role model, an outstanding boss at Telefund, and mentoring me for the past three years. President LeBlanc and Helen’s generosity helped me realize there are some great people out there who really want to help out since my resources were limited and at the time I thought I had no alternatives. They were very willing to help me and I am very thankful for that, since without this I would not be here on this campus today. It is an amazing feeling to know that at a University of thousands of students, my attendance and my success matters. It is great to know how much they truly care. The staff here care about what I am doing here, in my future endeavors, how successful I will be, and getting to know me.
SNHU has made a positive impact on my life. Attending this school helped me to realize that anything is possible. SNHU has made me more confident in myself and my schoolwork. SNHU has really became a second home to me over the past few years and I could not imagine any other school could make me feel so welcomed. The people here, both students and faculty, have helped me to become a more well-rounded person. The friendships I have made here and the experiences I have had will stay with me for a lifetime. Being a senior here now, I am going to be very sad to say good-bye to SNHU in the spring. I met amazing people and learned from the best professors and many other positive role models, which will stay with me forever.
I want to get a career working with children. I would like to either work in a preschool or daycare setting, or become a child psychologist. I want to be the one to make a difference in a child’s life because I feel as though there is no better feeling than helping children.
Thank you so much to those who support student scholarships! Even the smallest amounts can really make a difference in a student’s life. Being a student at SNHU and a Telefund caller who is directly impacted by these donations, it really means a lot to me. By donating to the school, you are helping students to reach their goals and open many opportunities for the future.
To make the most of your time at SNHU, you should get involved on campus early in your time here. It goes by too quickly, so it is important to make the most of every opportunity you may have. You may not have these options and experiences again in your lifetime. This is a time when you learn who you are, what you want to do, and truly find yourself.
