My favorite part about SNHU is being a member of Radio SNHU and getting to produce my own radio show. I also love that it allows me to share my passion for radio with others.
Scholarships have made a massive difference for me because they've allowed me to graduate with minimal debt and made my investment in my college experience so much easier. Scholarships allow me to take a huge weight off my shoulders as I run toward the finish line. My future looks brighter because of these scholarships and it shows me and my family that my hard work does pay off.
I would begin with a huge thank you and let them know how much their contributions to the success of SNHU students mean to me — especially being a recipient. It means so much to students to receive these scholarships because it makes the financial part of college much less stressful.
I chose Southern New Hampshire University because I wanted to continue my education at an affordable cost. I also wanted to be close to home, so that I could save money and be close to my family. Having the support of my family is tremendous and I don't know what I would do without that support system.
My hope in receiving a college education was to find my passion and determine what my future career path would be. I wanted to find out what I enjoyed doing because being stuck working at a job that I'm not passionate about is not how I want to live the rest of my life. I also wanted to experience certain clubs, like Radio SNHU, and make new friends along the way. After attending a community college, my eyes were opened up to the large amount of opportunities that SNHU has to offer including being a part of Radio SNHU and being the co-host for the Co-Designed podcast produced on campus. These opportunities have allowed me to continue exploring my passions and I'm super grateful for all SNHU does to offer its students the best experience possible.
When I first started going to college I wasn't sure what exactly I wanted my profession to be, so I choose communications as my program in order to begin with a broader area of study. It took a lot of exploring to find my passion, but I've decided that my dream job is to be an on-air radio personality at a large radio station, maybe in Boston one day.
In the past year, I've had so many amazing teachers at SNHU who impacted me in one way or another. However, Andrea Bard had the largest impact on my SNHU experience because she was not only an amazing teacher, she was a great mentor as well. I never felt uncomfortable approaching her with anything whether it be related to class or things going on in my personal life. She was always there to help me when I needed it and she treated me with the utmost respect. My biggest takeaways from my time with Andrea Bard were to not be afraid to take risks and you get back what you give to others. I'm super grateful for the year I spent in the classroom with her and will greatly miss her going into my senior year at SNHU.
I'm involved in Radio SNHU and I help produce the Co-Designed podcast on campus with Professor Jon Boroshok.
The most challenging part of being a student is taking classes on a subject that you aren't necessarily interested in, but learning to make the most of it either way. I deal with these classes by looking for future uses of the information I'm learning and looking at the positives of what this class can offer me.
I'm really proud of myself for coming out of my shell at a larger university and finding my place. I was really nervous to come to SNHU because I didn't know what to expect and was worried I would be lonely as a commuter. After being at SNHU for a year, I realized that it's super hard to be lonely when you join clubs and meet new people through the classes you take. I'm happy with how far I've come and can't wait for my senior year at SNHU.
I hope to stay involved as an alum and would love to mentor students who are trying to find their place, just like I did when I transferred to SNHU.
