The flexibility and the helpfulness of the SNHU faculty and staff! The transition was easy as a transfer student. From applying to SNHU, to taking online courses, everything has been wonderful!
Scholarships allow me to take more classes and continue my learning, as the military will only pay so much without using the G.I Bill. Scholarships have made a huge difference in my life and I'm grateful for everyone who donates. They allows me to take more classes and finish my degree quicker.
Thank you for letting me have the opportunity to further my scholastic career and pursue my goals in earning my bachelor's degree. I appreciate everyone who donates, helping people like me to continue their learning.
SNHU had the degree and concentration I was looking for and is a great college for active duty and veterans. SNHU is understanding, knows that everyone is different, and has different things going on in their life.
My hope for receiving a college education is to be one of the few in my family to have a degree, to make a difference in the world, and on the environment. The experience has been ten times better than what I thought. I've attended other online schools, and SNHU just has a better feel overall.
I love the outdoors and protecting what we have. Since I was a little kid I always wanted to do something with protecting our waters. I would say my dream job would be to work at a national forest or some sort of fishery. I'm also interested in helping respond to natural disasters.
My academic advisor, Jennifer Adams, has been the biggest influence on me. She always has time to chat or respond to an email, which has made my life a whole lot easier. The biggest lesson from her was that it's okay to take a break when you need to.
Being an online student I haven't been too involved with the school, but I do participate extra by helping other online students in the same courses that I'm taking.
The balance between work and school has been the most challenging. I work on a boat and I'm gone for days at a time, so sometimes it's hard to get everything done. I take time in between watch to complete school work, and that has worked pretty well for me so far.
What I'm most proud of is the day I became a father. There is a lot of new responsibility and time that is gone with having a baby. Being able to go to school, take care of a baby, and work a full-time job ... I would say I'm proud of myself for doing all these things all while continuing to work towards my dream.
I want to be able to help future students through the challenges that I've gone through, and to say that it's possible to go to school while being in the military and having a family. I also want to reach out to other veterans to help bridge the gap between military and school.
