What I like most about SNHU is the remarkable support and welcoming nature of the professors, administrators, and advisors towards international students. It has also been an incredible experience working at the Wellness Center on campus, surrounded by a team of joyful staff who truly care about the well-being of students. Being a part of the SNHU community, living in Manchester and pursuing my degree has not only provided me with valuable knowledge, but has also given me a profound sense of belonging and stability after years of striving for independence in the United States.
The scholarships and financial aid I've received have been transformative, as they have provided me with the means to pursue my education at SNHU. As a first-generation student from South Asia, these scholarships have not only allowed me to complete my studies, but have also given me the opportunity to build a career. This will bring stability not just to my own life, but also to my family who depend on me for a brighter future.
Through your compassionate donations you ignite a flame of possibility within each student, illuminating a path of endless potential and empowering them to soar beyond the confines of circumstance.
I chose Southern New Hampshire University for several compelling reasons. Firstly, SNHU's strong reputation for academic excellence and its commitment to providing a high-quality education stood out to me. Additionally, the university's diverse and inclusive community, as well as its welcoming and supportive atmosphere, made me feel confident that I'd have a positive and enriching experience. Ultimately, I believed that SNHU would provide me with the tools, resources and opportunities necessary to achieve my academic and career goals.
My hope in receiving a college education was to gain knowledge, skills, and experiences that would empower me to pursue a fulfilling career and make a positive impact in society. However, the college experience has surpassed my initial expectations by not only providing academic knowledge but also fostering personal growth, cultural understanding, and lifelong relationships. It has been a transformative journey that has expanded my perspective, challenged my comfort zone, and equipped me with the tools and mindset to navigate the complexities of the world.
I was inspired to choose my area of study, which encompasses IT, public health advocacy, and business analysis, due to my passion for utilizing technology to address healthcare challenges and improve population well-being. The intersection of these fields offers a unique opportunity to leverage data-driven solutions, promote health equity, and drive positive change in healthcare systems. My dream job is to work as a health tech professional, where I can apply my skills and knowledge to develop innovative solutions that positively impact the lives of individuals and communities, particularly in under served regions.
Academic Advisor Michele Carrier, has been the most influential figure in my SNHU experience. She has consistently offered invaluable guidance and support, teaching me the importance of kindness towards others and the power of motivation in helping students thrive.
As a graduate student assistant in the Wellness Center, I 've had the privilege of connecting with students from diverse backgrounds and becoming an integral part of the vibrant SNHU community.
The most challenging aspect of my student journey has been navigating the responsibilities of being an international student away from my family, missing out on important moments and shouldering the financial burden of tuition fees without access to jobs. Despite these challenges, I've persevered by maintaining resilience, seeking support from friends and mentors and finding ways to celebrate my achievements with my family despite the distance.
I'm immensely proud of the resilience I've shown since moving to the United States at the young age of 17. Navigating life without my parents and missing the chance to witness my siblings' remarkable growth has made my journey immensely challenging. Balancing my academic pursuits with the struggle of finding the means to pay for tuition fees as an international student without job prospects has been a test of my determination. Despite these hardships, I've managed to persevere, pick myself up during difficult times and find joy in celebrating my accomplishments with my family (even with it being done virtually through computer screens).
As a graduate, I aspire to remain actively involved in various ways. Firstly, I aim to be a source of motivation and support for current students and fellow alumni, offering guidance and sharing my experiences to help them navigate their own paths. Additionally, I hope to establish a scholarship specifically designed to support international F1 students, paying forward the assistance I received during my own journey. Through these initiatives, I aim to make a positive impact on the lives of others and contribute to the growth and success of future generations of students.
