What I like most about SNHU is how nice and respectful everyone is. I didn't feel like an outsider.
The scholarships and financial aid I receive make it possible for me to attend SNHU by allowing me to afford my college books and help pay for my courses.
I would say thank you to those who continue to donate to support student scholarships. There are so many students who deserve a chance to be better and to do better in their lives.
I chose SNHU because it gave me the opportunity to take care of my sick mother and my disabled son all while getting a degree to further pursue my career.
My hope after receiving a college education would be to get a career that I will enjoy and be able to take care of my children better. My experience at Southern New Hampshire has been pretty amazing so far. I received so much support and encouragement throughout my time here.
I've always wanted a career in history. I was accepted to a few colleges that were out of state, but wasn't able to go due financial issues and my mother being diagnosed with kidney failure. My dreams were put on the back burner for more than 20 years. My dream is to become a historian and be able to preserve the histories that we have left.
Professor Glenn Reynolds has encouraged to me step out of my comfort zone by getting me to join the Historical Society as well as apply for grants for the research I'm interested in.
What I find most challenging as a student is finding the time to focus on myself because homework (such as essay writing) can be a lot in a week. What I usually do is walk my dog Zeus early in the morning, make a cup of coffee or two, practice breathing exercises and then dedicate a few hours to get reading and other assignments done. I also set a timer to alert me to stretch and take a walk.
I'm proud of myself because I wanted a better life for myself and my children. I made a call that changed my life and now I'm working on getting my master's degree.
I would like to stay involved as a graduate by helping other students and encouraging them to keep going no matter what.
