I really like the campus life in general, the people make college a great experience. Having so many events every day or activities, the relationships I get to build with my peers and faculty members in classroom or work environments.
It was very helpful for me to get these scholarships in order to pay for my semester. My family and I often struggle a lot financially since it's my mom and me only. I am a first generation student from Mexico and my whole life I've been wanting to break the family cycles and expectations as a woman in my household. I am glad my mom and sisters have given me all the support and encouragement so I can finish my education. It is something I always dreamed of and without these scholarships, I wouldn't be able to be here.
Your generosity is truly transformative. By investing in student scholarships you're opening doors to opportunities, dreams, and futures that might otherwise be out of reach. Your support empowers students to focus on their education, pursue their passions, and build a better future for themselves and their communities. The impact of your kindness extends far beyond the classroom, creating a ripple effect that can change lives for generations. Thank you for believing in the power of education and for making a difference.
I chose SNHU because they offered really good psychology programs and I wanted to explore a different side of the United Stated that I haven't seen.
I hope to finally break the cycle in my family and receive full education. I want to have a good job and show some of my family members the power and strength that a woman can have.
My life journey made me realize that I wanted to help others and also some professors and faculty members have helped me shape my future.
I would say the first person would be Robert MacAuslan as he was my Sociology professor and has helped me a lot through my school journey. By providing incredible insights and helping me build my future, he is someone I look up to. My boss, Kayla Page, has also helped me a lot through my school journey and has provided support no one else has done.
I work at the Office of Diversity Programs; this is my fourth year there. I am also the president of Multicultural Student Union (MSU) and also in charge of the affinity group of "HOLA," which means Hispanic Organization for Latin Awareness. In all those jobs and titles, I am in charge of bringing inclusivity and diversity into college life by promoting events and activities. Lastly, I am also part of the Club Volleyball team. Volleyball has always been my favorite sport and being able to practice and play for fun has been really helpful.
Moving across the country without my family/friends and having to adapt to an entirely new environment by myself was very challenging. I dealt with this by going to therapy, staying virtually connected with my family, and making sure to engage in SNHU clubs/organizations, so I could build new relationships and find my people.
I am proud of everything I have done so far, the experiences in college and the friendships I have made. Getting to meet wonderful people including professors and faculty members.
I intend to visit campus so I can connect with those who helped me a lot through my journey, sending them emails or trying to stay in contact.
