There are many things that I really like about SNHU, but in regards to classes — the classroom atmosphere as opposed to lecture halls is great!
My mother and I are victims of domestic violence and my father does not provide any type of support whatsoever. This places the large financial burden of paying for college expenses on the two of us. Scholarships are very important to me because they help make it possible for me to attend SNHU.
Thank you for supporting students and please continue to offer scholarships to those in need. Being awarded a scholarship definitely makes a difference to students needing financial assistance and it could be the difference whether a student can continue with their education.
I chose SNHU because when I stepped on campus it felt like a community I wanted to be involved in. After touring several other campuses, SNHU is the one that made me feel the most welcome. I felt like I belonged here.
I have achieved so much more than I imagined I would. When I was in high school I was very nervous about college because I always thought it would leave me having to do all my work on my own, but that is not the case at SNHU. All the professors are very helpful and want nothing but to guide you to success.
I chose Justice Studies because I have always been interested in subjects such as forensics and law. Ever since a very young age I have been intrigued by the crime shows I watched on TV. After a tour of the New Hampshire State Police Crime Lab in Concord in my junior year of high school, my desire for a career related to this field has intensified and helped me to realize that I truly do see myself holding a career in this field. The realization of wanting to be a part of the accounting field began in my senior year of high school when I signed up for accounting and absolutely loved the class. I found myself wanting to do accounting work all the time. I am never able to tell myself that I am good at a certain skill, but with accounting I have no doubts of telling myself that I can do it. My teacher would always write on my report cards that I have a potential for a career in the field and that made me want it even more. I aspire to be a forensic accountant.
One professor at SNHU that had a huge impact on my experience would be Professor West. She is one of the best professors at SNHU and she really cares for and wants each of her students to succeed. She will do whatever she can to help you achieve success. I have learned so much from her and I thoroughly enjoyed each class I took with her. I know that if I ever need anything, regardless of the career path I choose, I could go to her and she would be more than willing to do what she can for me.
I have worked in the mailroom on campus since I began my time at SNHU. Having this job over the course of my time at SNHU has led me to develop connections with people on campus that I would not otherwise have, as well as to develop professional skills.
I am most proud of having consistently achieved a spot on the President's List. I have become a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and have been inducted as a member of Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Honor Society for Criminal Justice. I have also been accepted to present in Undergraduate Research Day, which I would have done this past April, but was not able to due to the Covid pandemic.
If a job were to arise on campus that would fit my background, I would absolutely love to stay involved in that manner - as I have really come to love everything about SNHU and continuously feel welcome every where I go. Whenever there are alumni events on campus, I most definitely will participate as it will remind me of some of my best times.
