Name: Hannah Linquata
Class of: 2019
Program: Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education
I chose Southern New Hampshire University for many reasons. The community at SNHU is very welcoming to both residents and commuters. As a commuter I have had the opportunity to attend the events that are happening every day on campus. I also chose SNHU for athletics. This will be my third year being a part of the Cheerleading team and I am thankful for every opportunity it has given me.
My hope for receiving my college education was to feel prepared to teach in the education field when I graduate. One way SNHU has been preparing me the past two years to be a teacher is by providing me the opportunity to be in many field-based courses. These courses allow me to plan and teach lessons in real classrooms in Manchester and Pembroke. There are tutoring sessions that I can attend to help me pass my teaching exams. SNHU has gone above and beyond what I had expected in helping me become prepared for when I have my own classroom.
My SNHU experience has been personal due to the fact that my advisor and professors are always there to support me. Whenever I have a question, I know that someone is there to help me with an answer or there to guide me to someone else who has an answer. If I’m unsure of something in class, I know that my professors will go out of their way by meeting with me and helping me to understand course materials.
I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was in kindergarten. Throughout my childhood, when someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up, I have replied with “a teacher.” SNHU has helped me confirm that I have made the right choice by having me work in classrooms at all ages and practice tasks of an everyday classroom teacher.
My dream job is to be a teacher working in a school district that believes in one another and works alongside each other to bring the most effective education as possible to our students.
My coach, Michelle McCarty, has had the biggest influence on me at SNHU. Not only has she helped me grow as an athlete, but she has helped me grow as a person as well. She has helped me become more involved on campus by leading me to Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) where I can work alongside others to make changes for athletes.
I have been involved at SNHU with athletics and SAAC.
I don’t find anything extremely challenging. I know that any problem I have I can easily find someone to assist me with solving the challenge.
I’m extremely proud of the grades I’ve received so far.
Whenever I hear alumni speak, I’m inspired— they always share their stories and how the campus has influenced them.
My advice would to be to enjoy the experience. Don’t stress over classes and working. Take things step by step. There will always be someone there to help and support you. Enjoy learning, making new friends, and new experiences.
I’m going to acquire a job teaching in an elementary school.
I’ll stay involved in any way SNHU would allow me to!
