It's very accommodating to students who have disabilities or are a minority.
My family and I would be unable to pay for my college tuition without the help of financial aid and scholarships. As a student who is trying not to take out too many loans, scholarships help tremendously to pay for classes.
It's very generous and kind to offer your financial support to us students who are working hard to join the working world. I truly appreciate your support of student scholarships.
I chose Southern New Hampshire University for a chance to live independently on campus, with the help of the campus resources such as the Wellness Center and Campus Accessibility Center.
In college it's all about taking the initiative to get done what you want or need done. High school teachers would warn us about how no one would be over our shoulder about handing in homework and assignments in college and that is true. I learned that this is also true about most other aspects to college life, such as signing up for classes or extracurriculars — whether they're academic or not. A big portion of college is about learning to be independent both in and out of the classroom.
I've always been geared towards mathematics, even when I was younger. When I was in elementary school I loved solving the complex word problems they'd give us for extracurricular work, which evolved into me wanting to solve harder and harder applications. I've switched my major several times throughout college, but mathematics has felt like the best fit. After graduation I'm hoping to go into revenue management although I'm not sure in what area yet.
My advisor, Taylor, has been a huge help to me on campus with everything from assisting me with arranging my schedule to figuring out who I need to communicate with when I'm having an academic problem (such as an issue with my transfer credits). Taylor has taught me to believe in myself more and to make sure to take care of myself in the process.
I'm a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ alliance group on campus, Generation Equality. I've really enjoyed being a part this student organization, as we always have fun meetings and events planned and it's a very accepting community of people.
Time management is one of the most challenging things as a student. There are so many things you want to do on campus, but only so many hours in the day. Being able to break down your schedule and plan out what you want to get done at what times is important. Some things will need to be done at specific hours while others can be scheduled into time blocks. Always be sure to leave yourself time for breaks and social activities as well!
I'm proudest of finally becoming a senior and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. It has been a long and difficult road, but I'm glad I stuck it out and didn't give up.
I hope to come back as an alumni to attend homecoming and other alumni events.
