The SNHU community is filled with kind, supportive people that makes everyone feel at home.
The scholarship and financial aid that I've received has allowed my hard-working family and I to spend less on tuition. This means that my dream of being able to afford all tuition charges for my senior year has come true.
To all those who donate in order to support students, THANK YOU! Thank you for offering to help students who may struggle financially to afford a high-quality education and for allowing them to be a part of this amazing community without having to worry as much about charges.
I chose this university because I wanted a high-quality education that wouldn't hurt me financially. And to make it all better, SNHU has an amazing community that I desired, and being involved in this community has changed my life for the better.
My hope in receiving a college education was to open up more job opportunities, ones that I would find enjoyable. My experience has been different because I get to choose what I want to pursue for projects, such as in my software engineering classes. I'm really focusing now on what I enjoy doing, which I did not expect to happen.
My dream job is being a web developer. In order to make computers do stuff, coders need to communicate with them using computer languages. Learning a computer language is very similar to learning a spoken human language, and learning new languages is my favorite hobby. So being able to combine my love of learning languages into something useful for the real-world, while also doing something that I find rewarding, has made me feel like my journey has come full circle. Still, the best is yet to come.
Not just one person, but an entire office has had the biggest influence on my college experience. International Student Services (ISS) has gotten me involved on campus and interacting with people from all around the world. Working with the campus with a global mindset has changed my life. I learned about how to help people who typically are in the USA studying in a language completely different from their own. My job in ISS is to support these individuals and doing so has made me a more compassionate person.
I've been involved with events through my job at International Student Services (ISS). I also have been involved with the International Student Association and through Multicultural Student Union, the latter of which as e-board. I also served on an e-board for the Accounting Society at the start of my SNHU journey.
I find burnout and a lack of motivation to do what I really want to be doing is the most challenging part of my student life. I deal with it by scheduling when I'm going to work, when I'm going to do other stuff, and then make sure I allow myself room to decompress. If you don't do enough of what you enjoy, with school projects or outside of class, you'll find yourself to be unhappy. Sometimes, we don't get to all the things we want to get done, even if we planned to do so. This happens. Be kind to yourself.
I'm proudest of being able to be as involved on campus as I am — both as a student working for the university and as a member of various multicultural organizations.
To perhaps one day be able to share my experiences to help other students succeed at this school.
