Southern New Hampshire University was not only affordable, I liked that it was in the mountains; it was scenic for me! I always loved my tour experiences, having met wonderful Orientation Leaders and PALs. I've been thinking about why I got so involved. I think it's because I wanted to show that I can be successful and dependable, that I could make my money back and hope to transfer to a different school in my second year. I think that was the plan, but I fell in love with this school in the first week. When they showed that we didn't even need to take our ID cards to get into the dorms, that we could keep them in our wallets and 'bump' our pocket to the scanner to let us in, it might as well have been pure magic! On a deeper level I especially grew to love the student community, as I always say it's the friendliest tier of people I have ever met. I would never transfer from this place.
For the longest time, I wanted to be a polymath in the creative world, someone who's touched significantly on a variety of different fields and made positive change in the worlds of science and story telling. It was immature but exciting for me to think I'll always have my parents growing up. But I know life is different than all that. I'm learning hot to swim and drive, and I know college is just the first step in a long staircase of life decisions. I can still achieve my dreams, but I have to grow up first. My dreams might change when I do, but that's okay because I know they will always be great dreams. My hope was to get a Bachelor's in Graphic Design & Media Arts and work in promotions to make flyers, advertising, and branding devices.
I am rewarded a scholarship every year for being a University Honors Student. In a time where I might not be able to afford next year at SNHU, these scholarships encouraged me to try my very hardest and helped me financially in securing my first two years here.
Everybody as a whole. From orientation to today, I am motivated to making others smile and encouraging them to try their best because they do the same for me. I'm excited to work with others on involvement projects not just for the experience and teamwork but also for the bonding and memories. My days are long, but they're jam-packed and filled with so many wonderful, inspiring minds. I say this about students, faculty, administration, and staff.
It's my home away from home! Before coming to SNHU, I was terrified with the prospect of simply 'moving' in. While I do get homesick sometimes, I find that I usually get more SNHUsick when I come back. I know the place inside and out and have fallen asleep in just about every building (or at least that's the rumor). I could walk it blindfolded, but I won't because that's DANGEROUS.
Coming into high school, my goal was to be more extroverted. I wanted to be an outgoing person who could talk to and fit in with anyone. Coming to SNHU, I like to think I was given a second chance. Almost immediately following orientation, I naturally became an extroverted mind. In getting super involved from the get-go, I had new experiences literately every hour. I'm comfortable with talking to just about anyone and I'm learning powerful tools until they're second nature. I couldn't be happier with who I am today! My goal for the end of college is to be an effective leader.
I plan to come back to SNHU for my Master's degree in Organizational Leadership, thus postponing my undergraduate loans for another two years. While there, I want to work in either the Office of Student Involvement or Admissions, which would mean getting my Masters for little to no financial cost for me and getting to work with and help students feel comfortable and find their calling at my favorite school on earth.
After achieving my Master's, I hope to apply to 4imprint, or a similar promotions business, as a designer associate or embroidery operator and work my way up. I will also seek work in music promotions and related corporations and offer services as a documentary filmmaker.
On the creative front, I am preparing fundamental materials and investing in literary and studio time for a number of novels, albums, films, games, comics, and more I intend to release from the summer of 2017 and onward. Should I find success in this route, I hope to travel around the world for book signings, film festivals, and opportunities to perform on the big stage, ultimately making my mark on the entertainment industry.
Thank you so much for reaching out and giving go-getters the chance to have more education and discover what they want to do, regardless whether or not they pursue work in their field. Those who give financially to support student scholarships are donating to a better, brighter future and changing lives for those who are struggling. If more people supported and donated their money into student scholarships, the whole world would be a much happier place.
Stay safe and get involved! They say these are the most fun four years of your life, so why not explore every outlet and make the most of it? Check out the Master Calendar and go to Club Day. Start up a club and attend a field trip to the local aquarium or go skiing or make tie-dye for your family. There's tons of memories to be had, friends to be made, and tools to be learned for anyone's future. :)
Digital Video Production with Bill Millios; Intro to Digital Imaging with Harry Umen; and World Geography with Joseph Corbin III
I spend my free time writing long novels I never finish, making music I keep looping, shooting videos, and playing games. When I'm not doing these, I'm up and about hugging and saying hi to everyone in all the buildings.
